THE pianist of sarajevo

“This is why theatre is made.” - Rosie Macpherson, Artistic Director of SBC Theatre

The Pianist of Sarajevo brings to life the stories of people who lived through the siege of Sarajevo between 1992-96. The siege, led by far-right nationalist forces in the pursuit of creating a mono-ethnic state, was one of the deadliest sieges in recent history, lasting 1,425 days and claiming the lives of over 5,434 civilians.

With support of Art Council England, War Childhood Museum of Sarajevo and Sheffield Theatres. the production underwent an R&D in late 2021 with a work in progress showing scheduled for the fall of 2023.
